Cuarzoarenitas

(Rocas sedimentarias detríticas coherentes psammitas)

Las cuarzoarenitas o areniscas cuarzosas (fotos) en general proceden de sedimentación marina. Por su tacto granular y áspero reciben el nombre genérico de asperón

Componentes:
El cemento representa menos del 15% del total del material. Las partículas son mayores de 50 micrómetros. Más del 95% es cuarzo

Reconocimiento de Visu:
Color blanquecino si no está muy cementada y puede conservar aire en sus poros, o colores grisáceos si la cementación ha progresado más. En general presenta siempre un aspecto arenoso.
