Rocas sedimentarias organoquímicas

Son rocas sedimentarias en las que juegan un papel determinante los procesos químicos y/o la acumulación de restos orgánicos

La división de este tipo de rocas se hace atendiendo a la composición química de los sedimentos:

• Sedimentos carbonatados: abundancia de carbonato cálcico
• Sedimentos carbonosos: abundancia de carbón orgánico
• Sedimentos no carbonatados
